Rockstar reageert op Britse Bully-boycot

Rocktar heeft gereageerd op het nieuws dat de Engelse winkelketens Currys, Dixons en PC World weigeren Canis Canem Edit (voorheen Bully) in de schappen te leggen:

Retailers have the final say on what kind of entertainment their stores will offer, but consumers rely on the BBFC ratings to help them decide what content is appropriate for them to buy. The most important thing we all can do is promote and support a consistent and reliable rating system. When Canis Canem Edit comes out next week, consumers will be able to make up their own minds. We will never convince everyone, but we hope most people will appreciate the story in the game as much as they enjoy similar stories in books, plays and movies.

Rockstar zegt hier dat de drie winkelketens de consumenten hun recht op een vrije keuze ontneemt. Consumenten kunnen gebruik maken van de BBFC ratings bij het maken van hun keuzes, dat moeten de winkels dus niet voor de consument gaan doen.

Overigens wordt Rockstar gesteund door de grootste retailer in Engeland, GAME. Dit bedrijf heeft aangegeven dat ze Bully gewoon zullen verkopen en dat ze er streng op zullen toezien dat de BBFC rating van 15 jaar en ouder zal worden nageleefd.
