Joel Bylos: Gamers zijn World of Warcraft moe
Nieuws | -Joel Bylos, designer voor de game Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, liet in een interview weten dat gamers volgens hem World of Warcraft moe zijn. Gamers zijn op zoek naar iets nieuws en is dat te merken aan hoe de gamers zich uitten op verschillende fora. Hij zegt dan ook:
"Everybody working in the industry respects WoW, but there is a feeling on the Internet that it is losing its lustre. You get that just from online communities, which of course we all pay attention to as well. But I think one mistake a lot of people make is they design a game to be WoW and WoW was successful on its own two legs and that's what Conan is going to do.”
World of Warcraft blijkt sinds de lancering echter nog steeds een groot success te zijn. Sinds de release in november 2004 is het aantal betaalde leden al uitgegroeid naar 9,3 miljoen spelers verspreid over de gehele wereld. Of Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures ook zo’n groot succes wordt moet nog blijken. De game staat gepland voor maart 2008 en komt op de PC als de Xbox 360, waarbij die laatste versie waarschijnlijk pas eind 2008 uitkomt.
